Surgeries

Dermatological Surgery

Skincodes provides specialist dermatological surgery for skin lesions requiring removal, biopsy, or excision. All procedures are performed by Dr Ang Sue-May under local anaesthetic in a clinical setting.

Every surgical procedure begins with thorough assessment. We do not remove lesions without first understanding their nature – because accurate diagnosis guides appropriate management, and because your safety is our primary concern.

Surgical Services

Cancer Excisions

Surgical removal of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma with appropriate margins and histological confirmation. For many types of skin cancer, surgical excision is the primary and most effective form of treatment, offering the best chance of complete removal and long-term clearance.

Cosmetic Mole Removal

Safe removal of benign moles for cosmetic or comfort reasons, with pre-removal assessment. Every mole should be assessed before removal – without exception. Cosmetic removal without prior assessment carries the risk of removing a lesion that may have required more careful management.

Methods include shave excision for raised moles and surgical excision for flat or deeper moles. All removed tissue is sent for histological review.

Keloid Surgery

Surgical excision of keloid scars combined with post-operative steroid injections to reduce recurrence. Keloids are a form of pathological scarring that extends beyond the original wound boundaries. Excision alone carries a meaningful risk of recurrence – often larger than before.

At Skincodes, surgery is typically followed by a course of intralesional corticosteroid injections, administered into the excision site at defined intervals during the healing phase.

Lesion Excisions

Removal of cysts, lipomas, skin tags, and other benign growths. Lesion excisions are performed in-clinic under local anaesthetic. The excised tissue is sent for pathological examination if clinically indicated.

Wide Local Excisions

Comprehensive removal of skin cancers with wider margins for complete clearance. Wide local excision is most commonly indicated in the management of skin cancers and atypical lesions where clear margins are a clinical priority.

The margin of normal tissue removed is guided by the type and characteristics of the lesion, as established by international clinical guidelines.

Why Choose Specialist Surgical Care

Dermatological surgery performed by a specialist offers distinct advantages:

  • Accurate pre-surgical diagnosis with dermoscopy. Lesions are assessed carefully as appearances can be misleading without specialist evaluation
  • Appropriate margin assessment for cancer excisions based on lesion type and guidelines
  • Histological analysis of all removed tissue to confirm diagnosis and clear margins
  • Minimally invasive techniques selected to optimise cosmetic outcomes
  • Structured follow-up and surveillance for ongoing skin health
